Euan Thomson, Ph.D.
Euan focuses on frontier health technologies at 1955 Capital, with an emphasis on data-driven healthcare and its potential to improve clinical decision-making and system efficiency. He brings over 30 years of experience as an operator, investor, and technologist across medical devices, digital health, and healthcare systems.
Euan was previously a Partner at Khosla Ventures, where he worked with Andrew and Vijit to develop digital health and analytics strategies across the firm’s portfolio.
Prior to that, Euan served as President and CEO of Accuray, where he built the company into a global leader in robotic radiosurgery, scaling revenue to over $400 million and leading its IPO in 2007.
He has also held senior executive roles at Carl Zeiss Meditec, Samsung, and Johnson & Johnson—including President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec, Head of Digital Health at Samsung, and Global Head of R&D, Digital Technology and Advanced Innovation at Johnson & Johnson—leading initiatives spanning surgical robotics, digital health platforms, patient monitoring, and advanced medical technologies.
As CEO of AliveCor, Euan helped pioneer data-driven patient services, including the first FDA-cleared algorithms for diagnosing and managing cardiac arrhythmias.
Euan holds a BS, MS, and PhD in Medical Physics from the University of London. Outside of work, he enjoys sailing, cycling, and running, and was previously a certified ski instructor.
