Vijit Sabnis, Ph.D.

Vijit is focused on frontier health, renewables, and manufacturing technologies at 1955 Capital. He has spent 20 years at the intersection of cutting-edge technology development as an inventor, entrepreneur, and investor. Vijit previously worked with Andrew and Euan while a Partner at Khosla Ventures.

Vijit was previously a Co-founder-In-Residence at Deep Valley Labs, a hypothesis validation incubator founded by Jagdeep Singh (CEO of Quantumscape) that generates ideas and spins out companies.

Prior to DVL, Vijit was a partner at Khosla Ventures for almost five years, where he invested in and helped build deep tech startups in biotechnology, healthcare, additive manufacturing, food technology, computation, and photonics. Vijit’s involvement included Overture Life, Genalyte, Inflammatix, Ontera, and Apton Biosystems in healthcare; Arevo, Casca, DDM Systems, and Digital Alloys in advanced manufacturing; Mojo Vision and Light Field Lab in photonics; and Commonwealth Fusion Systems and Joywell Foods in sustainability.

Prior to Khosla Ventures, Vijit was co-founder and CEO of Solar Junction, which commercialized the world’s highest efficiency solar cells at that time. Vijit was also an early employee at Translucent, which developed new materials solutions for silicon photonics and electronics applications. Vijit received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from UC Berkeley. He holds over 15 publications and 4 patents.
